Frequently asked questions about snakehead
Snakehead is a Chrome extension that lets you trade crypto, stocks, commodities, and currencies directly from your X feed.
All trades are executed on Hyperliquid, a high-performance decentralized perpetuals exchange. When you place a trade through snakehead, it is sent directly to Hyperliquid's on-chain order book. There is no intermediary. Your orders are matched and settled on Hyperliquid's L1.
Perpetuals (or perps) are futures contracts with no expiration date. They let you go long or short on an asset with leverage, without owning the underlying asset. You can profit from both rising and falling prices.
You can trade any asset listed on Hyperliquid, including crypto (BTC, ETH, SOL, etc.), stocks (AAPL, TSLA, NVDA, etc.), commodities (GOLD, SILVER, OIL), and currencies (EUR, GBP, JPY). New assets are added as Hyperliquid lists them.
Your trading wallet is created and managed by Privy. The private key is split using secure multi-party computation (MPC) — neither snakehead nor Privy can access your funds unilaterally. You can export your private key at any time from the settings page.
Open the sidepanel and go to Settings > Deposit. You can fund your wallet by depositing $USDC on Arbitrum. The funds are then automatically bridged to Hyperliquid for trading.
Go to Settings > Withdraw in the sidepanel. Enter the amount and destination address. Withdrawals are processed from your Hyperliquid account to the specified Arbitrum address.
Snakehead charges a 1bps (0.1%) builder fee on each trade, which is included in the trade execution. Hyperliquid also charges standard maker/taker fees. There are no fees for depositing and withdrawing.
Snakehead does not store your private keys or have direct access to your funds. Your wallet is secured by Privy's MPC infrastructure and Oauth authentication. The extension only runs on x.com and twitter.com and does not access your tweets, DMs, or browsing activity.
Only what's needed to operate: your X username (for authentication), wallet address (for trading), and trade history (for your dashboard). We do not read your tweets, track browsing, or sell data. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Yes, snakehead is currently in closed early access. You need a valid access code to start trading. Access codes are distributed on a weekly cadence.
If Hyperliquid is unavailable, you won't be able to place new trades or close positions through snakehead. Your funds remain safe on Hyperliquid's L1 and you can interact with them directly on Hyperliquid's own interface at any time.
